It’s been years since I posted here on the blog. I’ve finally logged in and decided to give my website some love. I have been up to a lot of new things lately. In 2020 I got my TAFE training and assessment qualification whilst teaching in a local High school. I started working as a TAFE teacher in the Visual Art Department in Murwillumbah early 2021. This year 2022 I am completing my Honours degree at Griffith University as they offer and excellent online study option. I am teaching Printmaking and Drawing at TAFE and loving the change from High School teaching. I have my Honours exhibition booked for March 2023 at the Northern Rivers Gallery in Ballina. I want to thank the gallery for taking me on. I feel so lucky to be able to exhibit my work there again.

My Honours research explores Intergeneration trauma. It investigates what it is and how it may affect identity and sense of belonging. The Title of my exhibition is TRACING threads across emotional landscapes of self.
The Alleva and Di Carlo Families pre-migration to Australian in 1449, Fara San Martino, Abruzzi, Italy.
Katie Alleva’s new body of work zigzags through the family archives exploring the life of her Italian ancestor’s pre-migration to post-migration because she wants to find out how trauma affects emerging emotional and cultural identities to raise awareness of the impact of conflict on culture and society, investigating displacement, and intergenerational trauma.
